Hashtags aren't dead, you're just using them wrong. #️⃣
This is to build a community and grow your following with them.

✍️ Why hashtags don’t work the way they used to
💭 How to use them to build a community and reach new audiences
As with everything, these are just our views, and you don’t need to consider every single one. But, if you do, over the course of a year you’ll have tried 52 extra things to improve your sales and marketing and make your business less shit.
Are hashtags any use at all in 2022?
Short answer: Yes.
Long answer: Only if you’re smart with them.
Hashtag usage has flipped from being a growth tool to a community one.
Loads of brands are now creating custom hashtags for their campaigns, keeping all relevant posts and conversations grouped together.
Whereas back in the early days, it was an easy way to get more eyes on a post just by throwing on a #marketing. There were fewer users and fewer posts, so you’d be seen easier.
But as a freelancer/small business owner/startup in 2022, do you think your post is going to get seen in the marketing hashtag on Instagram where there are (at the time of writing) well over 63 million other posts competing for attention?
As Mike would so eloquently put it, you’re pissing in the wind. 💨
But as with most things, each platform is different.
Hashtags are helpful for different things on different platforms, but as a general rule, they’re best used to find UGC (user-generated content) relevant to your industry, push competitions and giveaways, and build a community.
